Brand Focus: Seafarer!
Seafarer—a heritage denim brand
In 1896, a man from Brooklyn named Tony Anzalone created a new type of blue jean. He noticed that sailors needed to roll up their pants quickly, so he designed the Seafarer bell-bottom. He got a contract with the U.S. military and made the pants for about 100 years.
A lot of sailors wore them, and many of the pants ended up in army surplus stores. In the late 60s and early 70s, hippies and students found them.
As usual, street styles made their way to celebrities, and soon stars like Jane Birkin, Farrah Fawcett, Brigitte Bardot, and Raquel Welch were photographed wearing Seafarers and looking stylish.
